To be eligible, the dog must be owned and reside with the MFGRC member, and that member must have attended at least two club meetings and volunteered for a club function during the year. | AGILITY DOG of the YEAR - Ziggy Deauxquest Ziggy Stardust RE, TD, OAP, OJP, NFP, has done an outstanding job this year in agility. He started his career in January at the Daytona trials. And he pretty much breezed through his Novice titles, and then his Open. Most of his legs were won with First places, and well under course time. He is a fun dog to work with in this venue. Just wish I could keep up with him! Owned by Joyce Swegle | ![]() |

| FIELD DOG of the YEAR - Fisher
CH Deauxquest Hard Day's Knight UDT VER RAE SH WCX CCA VCX passed 5 of his first 6 Senior Hunter tests to quickly earn his SH this fall. He also passed both HRC Seasoned tests we tried. He is a good marking dog, handles well on blinds, and field is just one more endeavor that we have trained for ourselves and succeeded. Thank you to our guru Glenda Manucy, and training partners Kristin Sipus and Bob Connelly for all of their help. Fisher is six years old. Starting when he was two, he has won a "Dog of the Year" award for MFGRC every year: Tracking Dog, Obedience Dog twice, Versatility Dog and now Field Dog. | SHOW Dog of the Year - BROGAN | ||
| CH SHR Mirasol Nose No Blarney RA JH NA OAJ NF WC VCX CCA (UKC & Int'l CH, SDHF ptd.) Winning Show Dog Of The Year was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. After earning his Championship, Brogan and I returned to our performance roots where we had a wonderful time playing in agility and rally throughout the past year. We showed sparingly as a Special and Brogan did extremely well, garnering yet another Group Placement along the way. Brogan has fulfilled so many hopes and dreams and I feel truly blessed with this beautiful and talented boy. We are honored to have won this award. Owned and loved by Kathy Flaherty |

| Rally DOG of the YEAR - Lefty | ||
| Moonlight Magiks No Ducks Lft Bhind CD RAE CGC I first met Lefty at the conclusion of the 2006 National Specialty in Kansas City, when she was almost six months old (I am left handed, so I liked her name right off the bat!). Ann Rowe had made arrangements with the Moonlight folks for Betty Lambert and me to transport Lefty back to Florida after the National Specialty. At one point Betty had to leave the hotel room, and told me to "keep an eye" on Lefty, so I sat down next to her, and put my arm around Lefty's shoulders. I looked into Lefty's eyes, and at that moment, she claimed me as hers. When Betty and I returned to Florida, we delivered Lefty to Ann, but each time I visited Ann's kennel, I'd go looking for Lefty. She would get really excited when she saw me; I'd work with Lefty for a few minutes, and quickly realized that she had a lot of potential for rally and obedience competitions (thank you, Patty McCabe for laying the groundwork with Lefty!) Eventually, Betty and I asked Ann if we could "borrow" Lefty for a while so I could work with her on a daily basis; the 110 mile round trip drive from our house to Ann's was just too long a commute to do frequently. I started taking Lefty to classes with my trainer. About the same time, Ann generously offered to allow me to co-own Lefty. Within a couple of months, I entered Lefty in our first Rally competition. Lefty was glued to my side that day, and we scored a 99 in our first Novice class - we were on our way! I am thrilled that we finished Lefty's RAE at the MFGRC Specialty, under Judge Deb Neufeld, in June 2009, a week after I got her back from "maternity leave." Lefty is a very special girl! | Versatilityy DOG of the YEAR - Jagger | ||
| CH Deauxquest Midknight Rambler CDX RAE3 SH OA NAP NAJ NJP NF NFP WCX VCX - HR UH U-CD U-CH is truly our wonder dog. His first title was Junior Hunter in 2004, the day he turned 11 months old. He followed that with his Senior Hunter and WCX titles in 2006 - before he was three years old, and then his Upland Hunter title. He was the MFGRC field dog of the year in 2004 and 2006. He earned his CD before he was 2, then his U-CD, and his CDX in 2009. In 2005 he started Rally and earned his RAE3 within 2 years. During that time he also added UKC and Int'l Champion titles to his name, earning a UKC Best In Show along the way. Last year we started to go to occasional agility trials and Jagger quickly earned his NAP, NJP and NFP, followed by his OA, NAJ and NF. One of our proudest moments was when Jagger finished his AKC Breed Championship last year which also qualified him for his VCX. At the 2008 GRCA National Specialty, Jagger was one of only three dogs (including his half brother Zappa) to earn a triathlon award. At that National, he placed in conformation, both in the hunting retriever class and brace; qualified in performance, getting both rally and agility legs; and qualified in field, where he and Zappa were two of only 4 dogs to pass the WC in their flight of 32 dogs. Jagger defines an all around versatile golden retriever and we are so proud of him for winning this award. | ![]() |
