MFGRC Puppy Referral Service

The Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club offers a Puppy Referral service for both club members who have puppies available and non-members looking to add a Golden Retriever puppy to their family.

Only breeders who are MFGRC members and who meet certain requirements are allowed to list their litters with Puppy Referral. These requirements are:

  1. Be a Member in good standing for at least 12 months prior to listing.
  2. Have signed the club's Code of Ethics
  3. Have attended 2 meetings & volunteered for the club at least once during the year.
  4. Have received OFA hip, elbow and heart clearances, as well as a CERF eye clearance (done yearly) on both the sire and dam of the litter. Proof of clearances can be obtained by looking up the dogs' registered names on www.offa.org.
Buyers are reminded that MFGRC cannot guarantee the quality, availability or health of any puppy purchased as a result of a referral from its Puppy Referral service. Breeders may have more than one litter when you call or email. Only the litters listed below have been screened by the Puppy Referral coordinator and are being referred by MFGRC. It is up to the buyer to ask questions and make sure they are comfortable with the breeder they have chosen. MFGRC will not involve itself in disputes between buyers and breeders involved with the club's Puppy Referral service. While MFGRC encourages each member to uphold the club's Code of Ethics, the Board of Directors CANNOT be responsible for total enforcement.

Buyers should also be aware that often there are more potential buyers than there are quality litters/puppies available. This means that there may not be litters listed when you begin your search, breeders may have placed all puppies before they are 8 weeks of age, or breeders may have a long waiting list for their next litter. We encourage puppy buyers not to "give up" their search for a well bred puppy…patience pays off!

We encourage you to do research prior to adding a puppy to your family. The Golden Retriever Club of America's online publication "Acquiring a Golden Retriever" is an excellent resource. You can find this information at www.grca.org. If you are interested in obtaining a rescue golden, you can contact the Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida at info@grrmf.org.
